Neil Ullman


From the opening of the first community colleges in NJ in 1966 to 2000 I taught a wide variety statistics, quality control, mathematics, computer,  and various engineering and engineering technology courses. In 2000 I retired as a Professor of Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering Technology with the County College of Morris (CCM) in Randolph, NJ.
I have a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MS in Statistics from Rutgers University. I am a registered Professional Engineer in NJ (retired), an ASQC Certified Quality Engineer (retired) and an SME Certified Manufacturing Engineer. For 10 years I was Chairman of Mechanical Engineering Technology at CCM.

In 2013 I suddenly became an Adjunct Lecturer in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research Department of Columbia University where I teach the Quality Control and Management Course, IEOR 4412. I taught there for three years. 

Since the early 1980'sI have been a consultant with a number of companies working on a variety of quality and applied statistical problems, especially involving research and development and manufacturing. From that time I also provided courses in statistics, statistical process control, and design of experiments for several major companies.

I continue to be an active member of ASTM Committee E-11 on Quality and Statistics, having served as Chairman of the committee. I have regularly provided ASTM training on interlaboratory testing, and was the ASTM E-11 Liaison to ANSI Z1 and ISO TC69 and TC176. I am a fellow and a recipient of the Award of Merit of ASTM as well as a Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
